SavasBeatie has just published my The Siege of Petersburg: The Battles for the Weldon Railroad, August 1864.  It is available from SavasBeatie and Amazon.  This is a revised, expanded edition of my original 1991 book.

Edwin C. Bearss, former Chief Historian of the National Park Service and an award winning author, has called it, "A superior piece of Civil War Scholarship."

Richard J. Sommers, author of Richmond Redeemed, which sets the standard for Civil War research, has said, "It belongs in every Civil War library."

Noah Andre Trudeau, author of The Last Citadel: Petersburg, June 1864-April 1865, says, "it's great to have John Horn's fine study of August 1864 combat actions (Richmond-Petersburg style) back in print."

I am also the author of The Petersburg Campaign, May 1864-April 1865, published in 1993 and available from DaCapo Press and on Amazon.  More recently, I helped edit Civil War Talks, Further Reminiscences of George S. Bernard and His Fellow Veterans (University Press of Virginia, 2012).  This book is also available on Amazon.
